Da Nang to Lao Bao Border by Private Car
You are in Da Nang and you need to get to the Lao Bao border gate. A Da Nang to Lao Bao private car picks you up at your hotel or address in Da Nang and takes you straight to the border gate, or drops you in Lao Bao town if you are staying overnight. The border gate is about 250 km from Da Nang, about 4 to 4.5 hours of driving each way. The car leaves at your time, including a 4:00 to 5:00 AM start for a visa run, and the price is fixed on WhatsApp before the trip. On a visa run, the same car brings you back to Da Nang the same day.
Mui Ne Private Car is a private transport company with more than 8 years of experience on routes across Vietnam. We run this trip with our own cars and local drivers. Message us on WhatsApp at +84 976 694 384 and we confirm your fixed price before you travel.

The Day Is Won or Lost at the Border Gate
The drive west is the predictable part of this trip. The lines inside the gate are not. One morning the three lines together, exit stamp, Laos side, entry stamp, take half an hour in total. The next morning a long queue, a document question or a slow system turns the same process into two hours, and nobody can tell you at pickup which morning it will be.
That wait is exactly where shared transport breaks down. A shared visa run van carries several travelers, and it cannot leave the border until its slowest passenger has cleared. A public bus cannot wait at all, and its return times do not line up with border paperwork, so a bus day usually ends with a night in Lao Bao town. With your own car, nobody waits on anybody: your driver stays near the gate, and from inside the lines you keep our travel expert updated with how long you have left. The expert times the driver, so the car is at the meeting point when you walk out, whenever you are ready, not when a group is complete.
Da Nang to Lao Bao Travel Q&A
What happens at the border on a visa run, step by step?
Your driver drops you at the Lao Bao gate, confirms the meeting point for afterwards, and stays nearby while you walk into the Vietnam exit hall with your passport. You get your exit stamp, cross the short stretch to the Laos side at Dansavanh, and complete the Laos entry, with a visa on arrival if your nationality needs one. Then you turn around: Laos exit stamp, back to the Vietnam entry hall, and your new entry stamp or your new e-visa is processed. While you are in the last line, you update our travel expert on WhatsApp with how long you have left. The expert times the driver, so the car is at the meeting point when you walk out, ready for the drive straight back to Da Nang.
My new e-visa names Da Nang Airport as the entry point. Can I still re-enter at Lao Bao?
No. A Vietnam e-visa is issued for one named entry gate, and the officers at Lao Bao can only accept an e-visa that names Lao Bao. An e-visa that names Da Nang Airport works at the airport, not at this land border. Check the entry gate printed on your e-visa before you book the car, because this one detail decides whether the whole day works.
One way or visa run: which booking fits my trip?
Book the one way if you are leaving Vietnam: you are continuing into Laos, or staying in Lao Bao town, and you do not need the car back. Book the visa run if your day ends back in Da Nang: you cross out, complete the entry process again, and the same driver brings you home the same day. The two bookings are priced and scheduled differently, so tell us which one you need when you message us.
Why do visa run days start at 4 or 5 in the morning?
The day has three parts that nobody can shorten: about 4 to 4.5 hours of driving out, the border process itself, and about 4 to 4.5 hours of driving back. Starting at 4:00 to 5:00 AM puts you at the gate early, leaves room for a slow crossing, and still brings you back to Da Nang the same evening. A later start does not shorten the day. It only moves the risk to the return side.
Can the driver handle our visa paperwork at the gate?
No, and any service that promises to stamp your passport for you should worry you. The stamps are given to you in person by the border officers, and our drivers are drivers, not visa agents. What we do is the transport properly: we get you to the gate early, your driver stays nearby the whole time, and before the trip we explain the gate process step by step so you know what happens at each window. Your visa arrangements stay yours, with an agent if you use one.
We are crossing into Laos and not coming back. Where do you drop us?
At the Lao Bao border gate itself, or at your hotel in Lao Bao town if you are staying the night before crossing. Your driver helps you with your luggage at the drop-off point and checks the car with you so nothing is left behind. Your travel on the Laos side, from Dansavanh onward, is your own arrangement.
From Da Nang Airport to Lao Bao
Some travelers land in Da Nang and go straight to the border. The airport sits on the west side of the city, and the drive from the airport to the gate takes about the same 4 to 4.5 hours. This is exactly how the pickup works:
Book the car for your landing time.
Send us your flight number when you book, together with your landing time.
We track your flight.
We follow your flight before you land. When a flight is delayed, we see the delay in the tracking and set the pickup time again to match your new landing time, so your driver is there when you actually land.
Meet your driver at the arrivals exit.
Your driver stands at the arrivals exit holding a name board with your name on it. Come out of arrivals and look for the board. Your driver stays at that exit, and you can message us on WhatsApp at any point and we guide you to each other.
Drive west to the border.
Your luggage goes in the car, and the drive to Lao Bao takes 4 to 4.5 hours. Tell us when you book whether this is the start of a one-way trip or a visa run, so the driver's whole day is planned around your crossing.
Your Journey to Lao Bao
Step 1: Pickup in Da Nang
Your driver comes to your hotel or address in Da Nang at the time you booked, early in the morning for a visa run, or waits at the airport with a name board. Your Da Nang to Lao Bao private car starts at your door, so your group and your luggage travel together in one car.
Step 2: The Long Drive West
The drive takes 4 to 4.5 hours toward the Laos border. Your driver chooses the best route on the day, based on traffic and road conditions, and stops for a rest break on the way when you need one. Keep your passport and your border cash with you in the cabin, not in the luggage in the back.
Step 3: At the Gate, and the Road Back
At Lao Bao, your driver drops you at the gate, confirms the meeting point for afterwards, and stays nearby in town. On a visa run, while you are in the lines, you keep our travel expert updated on WhatsApp with how long you have left. The expert times the driver, so the car is at the meeting point when you walk out, and the drive back to Da Nang starts from there. On a one-way trip, he helps you with your bags at the gate or at your Lao Bao hotel. That is the end of your Da Nang to Lao Bao private car trip with Mui Ne Private Car.
At the Lao Bao Border Gate
Lao Bao is an international border gate in Quang Tri Province, at the end of the road west from Da Nang. Across the line is Dansavanh, the matching gate on the Laos side. Everything a border day needs happens inside this one checkpoint area:
The Vietnam Side: Exit and Entry Halls
Leaving Vietnam and entering Vietnam again are two separate halls and two separate queues. You handle both in person with your passport. This is the part of the day that sets the schedule, so the morning plan is built around arriving early and having your documents ready.
The Laos Side: Dansavanh
A short walk across the line brings you to the Laos checkpoint. Most nationalities receive a Laos visa on arrival here, paid in US dollar cash to the Laos officers. Then you turn around and complete the same steps back into Vietnam.
What to Have in Your Hand at the Gate
Your passport, valid for at least 6 more months. Your new Vietnam e-visa printed, naming Lao Bao as the entry gate, if you are entering on one. Clean US dollar cash for the Laos visa on arrival, around 35 dollars. And your phone, so you can reach our travel expert on WhatsApp while you are inside. From the last line, you update our travel expert, and your Da Nang to Lao Bao private car is at the meeting point when you walk out.

For a Da Nang to Lao Bao private car, prices are per car, not per person. The visa run price covers the whole day: the drive out, your driver staying near the border while you cross, and the drive back to Da Nang. Visa fees are not part of either price, because you pay those to the border officers yourself.
Why Book This Trip with Mui Ne Private Car
The car comes when you are done.
On a visa run, the wait at the gate is the whole problem, and the pickup is built around it. Your driver stays near the border, and from inside you keep our travel expert updated with how long you have left. The expert times the driver, so the car is at the meeting point when you walk out, not when a group is complete.
One fixed price for the whole day.
You message us on WhatsApp and we confirm the exact price before your trip, for the drive out, the border pickup and the drive back together. The price you agree is the price you pay.
No deposit, and free cancellation.
You pay nothing to book. You pay your driver after the trip, or in advance only if you prefer. And you can cancel free of charge a few hours before departure.
A 4 AM pickup at your door.
Border days start early, and they start at your address, not at an agency meeting point across town. Your driver is at your door at the time you booked, with the car ready for the long drive west.

Frequently Asked Questions
What cash should we bring for the Laos side?
Bring clean US dollar notes, around 35 dollars for the Laos visa on arrival, plus a small amount extra for the day. The Laos officers are paid in cash at the gate, and torn or marked notes can be refused. Vietnam visa fees, if your entry needs one, are separate from this.
Who do we pay the border fees to?
To the border officers, in person, at the windows inside the gate. The Laos visa on arrival is paid to the Laos side, and any Vietnam entry fee is paid on the Vietnam side. None of these fees goes to us, and none of them is inside the car price.
What happens if the border takes much longer than planned?
Keep our travel expert updated on WhatsApp from inside the gate, with how the lines are moving and how long you have left. The visa run is booked as its own product, with your driver's whole day set aside for your crossing, and he stays near the border the whole time. The expert times him with your updates, so the car is at the meeting point when you walk out.
Can children come on a visa run?
Yes, and the same border rules apply to them: every traveler, children included, crosses with their own passport and their own visa or entry status. A child cannot cross on a parent's documents. If your group includes small children, tell us when you book so we plan the day's stops around them.
What happens if re-entry into Vietnam is refused?
The entry decision belongs to the border officer alone, and no transport company can promise you a stamp. That is why the checks before the trip matter: your passport validity and your e-visa naming Lao Bao as the entry gate. Your driver stays near the border through the process, and you stay in contact with our travel expert on WhatsApp the whole day.
