Da Nang to Phu Yen by Private Car
Seven hours is a long time to sit in any vehicle. On the road from Da Nang to Phu Yen, it is the whole day: one long coastal leg, about 380 to 390 km, with Quy Nhon sitting roughly halfway. A Da Nang to Phu Yen private car turns that day into a day you control. You leave in the morning, stop in Quy Nhon for lunch, and arrive at your hotel in Tuy Hoa with no station, no fixed seat, and no second booking. The drive costs from $175 per car, one way, and the price is fixed before you travel.
Mui Ne Private Car is a private transport company with more than 8 years of experience on routes across Vietnam. We run this trip with our own cars and local drivers. Message us on WhatsApp at +84 976 694 384 and we confirm your fixed price before you travel.

Put the three side by side and the question is not which one moves. All three move. The question is who owns the clock on a 7-hour day. The train owns it, and the train is a fine ride for a solo traveler who wants the scenery and does not mind the stations. The bus owns it too, at the lowest price. The private car is the only one that hands the clock to you: leave when you want, stop in Quy Nhon for lunch, and arrive at your hotel in Tuy Hoa without a second booking. That is why the car is the recommended way here for groups and families, and for anyone who wants the long day to bend around them rather than the other way around.
The Drive: One Long Coastal Day
Morning Pickup in Da Nang
The car leaves in the morning, from your hotel or address in Da Nang, with your group and your luggage in one car. Morning matters on this leg, because a 7 to 8 hour drive still needs to end in Tuy Hoa with daylight to spare. If you are landing at Da Nang Airport instead, the pickup works the same way as in the airport section below.
The Long Drive, with Quy Nhon in the Middle
The road runs south along the coast on QL1A, and the middle of the day belongs to Quy Nhon, which sits roughly halfway. A lunch and rest break there is agreed when you book, at no extra charge, and it splits the drive into two manageable halves instead of one unbroken sit. Your driver chooses the best route on the day, based on traffic and road conditions, and stops wherever you agreed when you booked. There are also plain rest stops for food, coffee and a break from the car whenever you need one.
Arriving in Tuy Hoa
Tuy Hoa is the capital of the former Phu Yen Province, and older listings still say Phu Yen Province, while newer ones place it in Dak Lak Province after the 2025 merger. The town is the same either way. Your driver drops you at your hotel, helps you unload your luggage and checks the car with you so nothing is left behind. That is the end of your Da Nang to Phu Yen private car trip with Mui Ne Private Car.
Five Questions About the Drive
Seven hours is a long ride. How do travelers usually break up the Da Nang to Phu Yen drive?
Most travelers break it once, in Quy Nhon, roughly halfway, for lunch and a proper rest. That single break turns one 7 to 8 hour sit into two shorter drives, and it is the break the car makes easy, because the stop is agreed when you book and the car waits for you. Travelers who want more stops add them the same way, at booking, at no extra charge.
Most people take the train to Tuy Hoa. What does a private car give us that the train does not?
The train gives you scenery and a steady ride, and on this leg most travelers do take it. The car gives you three things the train cannot: your own departure time, your own stops, and a door at each end. There is no station transfer in Da Nang, no station transfer in Tuy Hoa, and no seat or berth fixed by someone else. For a group, those three add up to more than the train's scenery, and the car also carries your whole group for one per-car price.
Quy Nhon is halfway. Is it worth stopping there, or should we drive straight to Phu Yen?
It is worth the stop, and not only for lunch. Quy Nhon breaks the longest day of the trip into two halves, and it is the natural place to stretch, eat properly, and reset before the second half. Driving straight through saves at most an hour and spends it in the car instead. The only travelers who skip Quy Nhon are the ones racing a check-in time, and even they usually regret the second half.
Can we keep the car for a sightseeing day in Phu Yen after we arrive?
Yes, as a separate arrangement. Tell us when you book that you want a sightseeing day after arrival, and our travel expert will quote it for you, based on the places you want to see and the hours you want the car. The transfer price in the table covers the Da Nang to Tuy Hoa drive only, so the sightseeing day is quoted on its own, before you travel.
Our flight leaves from Tuy Hoa airport. Can the driver take us there on our last day?
Yes. Tuy Hoa Airport sits about 7 to 10 km from the city centre, and the driver can take you there on your last day as the return leg of the trip. Tell us your flight time when you book, so the pickup leaves enough time for the airport, and the same door-to-door service runs in reverse.
From Da Nang Airport Straight to Phu Yen
The airport sits inside the city, and the drive from the airport to Tuy Hoa takes about the same 7 to 8 hours. This is exactly how the pickup works:
Book for the landing time, not the road. Tell us your flight number and your landing time when you book, and the car is set for when you actually come out of the airport, not for a fixed hour.
We follow the flight, not the schedule. We follow your flight before you land. When a flight is delayed, we see the delay in the tracking and move the pickup to your new landing time, so your driver is waiting when you walk out.
Find your name at the arrivals exit. Your driver stands at the arrivals exit holding a name board with your name on it. Your driver stays at that exit, and you can message us on WhatsApp at any point and we guide you to each other.
Drive south to Tuy Hoa. Your luggage goes in the car, and the drive takes 7 to 8 hours, with the Quy Nhon lunch break on the way. Tell us when you book whether you want extra stops, so the day is planned around daylight on arrival.
What Waits in Phu Yen
Phu Yen is a coastal province of fishing towns, basalt cliffs and long empty beaches, and its famous sights are day trips from Tuy Hoa, not stops on the Da Nang road. Plan them from town, after you arrive, not as detours on the transfer day.
Ganh Da Dia. The basalt rock formations on the coast north of Tuy Hoa, in Tuy An district, columns of dark stone stacked like plates by an old volcanic flow, named a special national scenic spot in December 2020. Allow half a day for the trip from town, including the coastal road there and back, and go in the morning for the best light on the rocks. Bai Bang beach sits about 100 metres from the rocks, so the two pair naturally in one outing.

Mui Dien. The lighthouse cape about 30 km east of Tuy Hoa city centre, a day trip from town along the coastal road. The Dai Lanh lighthouse, built in 1890, stands at the easternmost point of the mainland, and the complex also covers Bai Mon beach and Rang Dong cape. Allow half a day, go early for the sunrise, and pair the lighthouse with Bai Mon beach below it, since the two sit together and the trip covers both in one outing.

Hon Yen, Vung Ro and Bai Mon. Three more day trips from town for travelers staying longer: Hon Yen for its offshore islets, Vung Ro for its sheltered bay, and Bai Mon for its long beach. Each one is a half-day outing from Tuy Hoa on its own, and none of them sits on the Da Nang road, so none of them belongs in the transfer day.

How Many Days in Phu Yen?
One day covers the arrival and the town itself. Arrive in the afternoon, settle into your hotel, and walk the Tuy Hoa seafront in the evening. Two days add one day trip, usually Ganh Da Dia, and three days add a second, usually Mui Dien. Travelers who come for the coast itself take the third day, since the sights sit apart from each other and each one deserves its own half day. Travelers passing through to Nha Trang do it in one night, and the car south is a separate booking.

This was the most complex transfer I've made in the 2 months I've been here. I asked the transfer company to pick me up at 6:30am and it involved a taxi ride to the ferry and then another taxi ride to the airport....

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the driver stop for rest breaks on a 7-hour drive?
The main break is Quy Nhon, roughly halfway, for lunch and a proper rest, agreed when you book. Shorter rest stops for food, coffee and a break from the car happen whenever you need one along the way, and the driver plans them around the daylight on arrival.
Can we book the return leg to Da Nang later, or must we decide now?
You can decide later. Book the Da Nang to Tuy Hoa leg now, and message us on WhatsApp when your return date is set. The return leg is priced on its own at that point, with the same vehicle and the same fixed-price confirmation before you travel.
How do we pay for the trip?
You pay your driver after the trip, or in advance only if you prefer, in cash, by Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer, PayPal, or Apple Pay. No deposit is required either way.
Is there a surcharge for hotel pickup outside Tuy Hoa city?
Any surcharge for a pickup outside Tuy Hoa city is quoted upfront at booking, before you travel, so the price you confirm is the price you pay. Tell us the exact pickup address when you book and the quote covers it.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation is free. Message us on WhatsApp and the booking is released, with nothing charged.
