On the Road: Your Cat Ba Island to Halong Bay Private Transfer Journey

Your driver meets you at your hotel on Cat Ba Island and loads your luggage before setting off on the island's own road network - a short, winding stretch that passes through Cat Ba town, along the edge of the national park, and past small guesthouses and seafood restaurants before reaching the crossing point. This first leg covers around 14 km and takes roughly half an hour, giving you one last look at the island's limestone cliffs and mangrove-lined inlets before the crossing.

If you've chosen the Ferry Transfer, your driver drops you at Cai Vieng Ferry Terminal, where your ferry ticket - already included in your booking - is ready for you. The crossing itself takes you across open water dotted with karst islets, a quieter and more low-key way to leave the island behind. Once the ferry docks at Dong Bai Ferry Terminal, a second driver from our team will already be there waiting with a sign, ready to load your bags into the next vehicle without any delay.

If you've chosen the Cable Car Experience instead, your driver takes you to the cable car station on Cat Ba Island, where you'll need to purchase your ticket separately before boarding. The ride itself is the highlight of this option - one of the longest cable car crossings in the region, gliding high above the bay with sweeping views of limestone karsts, fishing boats, and the water stretching out beneath you. On the mainland side, a second driver from our team will be waiting at the station to continue your journey.

No matter which option you choose to get to the other side, the second driver will take over for the longer leg of the journey - about 73 km, which takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The route winds through the coastal countryside of Quang Ninh, passing fishing villages and roadside markets, with glimpses of the bay’s limestone mountains rising in the distance as the road winds toward Ha Long City. The final few kilometers wind along the coastline before arriving at your hotel or requested destination in Ha Long Bay.

And of course, upon arriving at your designated meeting point in Ha Long Bay as previously requested, the driver will ask you to check everything before getting out of the car - just to make sure you don’t leave anything behind, such as your wallet, headphones, phone, or even your important documents.
