The tunnels changed everything. Hầm Cù Mông and hầm Đèo Cả cut what used to be two slow, congested mountain pass sections into straight-through tunnels. The old QL1A route took 5–6 hours; the expressway takes just over 4.
All four sections now open. As of late April / early May 2026, the complete expressway from Quy Nhon to the existing Vân Phong–Nha Trang section is operational. This is a new and fully connected corridor.
Reliable for flight connections. The expressway has no mountain pass congestion, no QL1A truck traffic bottlenecks. Travel time is predictable — which matters when you have a flight to catch at Cam Ranh.
